Dear Athletes,
What a week we had last week at the annual WadiB event held in Dibba, Oman. I would recommend this event to anyone in the Gulf who would like a bonding experience with there team mates. 118 Teams competed in total with each team consisting of 5 members. It really does not matter whether you finish 1st or last, your only concern is not letting your team’s members down. Everyone seemed to race there hearts out and what an experience to be part of this event. Hat’s off to the organizers for creating such an event. Out of the 118 Teams, T2A fielded 5 teams and we all came within the top 33 and only separated by an hour over 74km. I was very impressed with our 5 Triathlete teams mixing it up with the runners and I am sure we surprised a few. Our newbie girls did great with Doris and Julie jumping in the deep and doing themselves and the T2A crew proud. Special Supermen award went to Simon Marshall who took a spill on the 15% down hill on dirt at 22kph…looking back now it is funny but witnessing it at the time was scary, he got up though and ran even harder for our team.
I would like to thank Jan who had a few of us to his 30th Birthday party afterwards as we downed a few drinks or 3, a great bonding night with a few making fools of themselves AGAIN!
Next event on the calendar is the Mercure Challenge Duathlon on Feb 27th. Entries are still open so please email your specs so you can be registered. Moving onto the Tri2aspire World Ironman camp with Dual World 70.3 and Ironman World champion, Craig Alexander, the Westin Hotel will host this special one off event March 26th-28th. I spoke to Craig yesterday and he does not know that we are getting him to race the Saturday Sprint Triathlon we will hold within the 30 participants, so make sure you’re all fit and there will be a special prize for anyone who can beat him…it is off handicap by the way and could be arranged!!
That’s it in the T2A World,
Safe Training,
Jason
