Hi Guy's.
Well it's been too long since my last blog, due to a few problems with the site we are up running again. Just capping off a few races of late. Liz is still undefeated for 2009 with her second victory at the infamous Mercure Challenge Jabil Hafeet Duathlon. Liz really is in fine form but the big surprise of the day has to go to JessicB, a newbie with the team who placed 2nd overall in the Open females. 2005 World Ironman Champion Faris Al Sultan obviously won the event and was very close to his race record missing it by less then 40 seconds in tough hot conditions. Just would like to thank Faris who comes out to such a small low key event and always supports it. In saying that, he always walks away saying how hard the Challenge is!!
A week later Roy "Hammer" Nasr was 2nd overall in the Dubai Tri Club event held over the OD distance. He can also walk away saying he beat one of the Worlds best swimmers out of the water by over 4 minutes. Poor Faris was swimming out towards Abu Dhabi that day and and swam a little further then he should have. Team Nutritionist Catherine Prattley also a Newbie shocked a few of us placing 2nd overall which was a truly remarkable effort and one that stood out to me that day as she heads towards representing NZ in the ITU World Triathlons Championships. I predict that this girl will win an event next year in the UAE..no pressure Catherine.
This week we have Jan and Elliot racing 70.3 Singapore before heading back to join in on the Craig Alexander camp being held at the Westin Hotel. Craig will be coming in also from Singapore so I am sure we are going to hear some great Pro chat about the outcome of Sundays event. Craig is really looking forward to this camp and this will actually be his first time setting foot in Dubau. Let's all treat him like the star he is, not that he would ever admit that. One of the true Gentlemen in the sport guy's.
Will keep you informed and hopefully the Gallery will be up next week so you can see some shots of Craig and the participants joining in.
Cheers,
Jason
